A good digital SLR camera would usually cost you 1k & above. Fret no more if you do not own a fantastic digital camera. You can create the same depth of field by applying some simple trick to your digital photos using Adobe Photoshop. Here is how it goes:
Original Photo:
Final Edited Photo:

- Open the photos in Adobe Photoshop CS2
- Duplicate the layer by dragging the “background” layer into the “new layer” icon located at the bottom of the layer palette. Rename the new layer as “Baby”.

- With the “Baby” as the current layer. Select the marquee Tool . In this example, I have selected the “oval Marquee” tool under the tool menu.

- Go Menu > Select > Feather (Alt+Ctrl+D)
- Key in 250 pixel for feather radius (applicable only when your photos are at least 2000 pixel in width) You need to play around with the pixel settings.

- With the selection on, Add a new layer mask by clicking on the layer mask icon located at the layer palette.

- Select the “Background” layer again.
- Apply Filter > Blur > Lens Blur

- You may adjust the gradient of the mask layer in step 6 to suit your taste.
- There you have it!! Hope you love this tutorial.
